     Rev. Olympia McKelvey ABNEY, son of Dr. Ezra Styles ABNEY, was born on 8 March 1872 in Lexington County, South Carolina. He graduated in June 1894 at Wofford College at age 22. He ediucation had begun in the home and continured through various schools in Lexington and Richland counties. While in college he was secretary of his class and taught Sunday school. After graduation he taught school at Boiling Springs in Lexington county. In the fall of 1895 he entered the Theological Department at Vanderbilt University. He graduated with honors in 1898.

He was licensed to preach 5 Aug 1893. After his graduation in 1898 he was appointed to the Cartaret Street Church, Beaufort, South Carolina. He was received into the Methodist conference and was a circuit preacher 1899-1900 before being appointed to West End, Anderson.

William James ABNEY was named an heir in the will of Henry Madison ABNEY dated 30 November 1830 in Claiborne, Monroe County, Alabama. His father's estate was divided between he and his brother, Orlando Henry Abney.1

     Robert D'Abbeney was the parson of Bamford, Derbyshire, England.

Robert D'Abbeney made a grant to Hugh le Pec between 1216 and 1272 in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England. At an unknown date (probably Henry !!! 1216-1272), "Robert Albus of Brampton, grant to Hugh le Pec, rent which Peter Tincton paid in Chesterfield, and rent in Freylesant Flat, in Brampton. Trustees the Lord Thomas de Brampton, Thomas de la Leys, Roger de Blythe, Peter Fox, William fil Hugo, Richer fil Wunat. Witness de Catclive."1

Robert was a witness to a grant of land from Hugh, son of Gerberti de Stoke, to William, son of Philippi de Thornhyl, of five acres of land in Kenteney in the field of Superior Offerton. Witnesses: Elyas de Bamford, Peter de Hyrst, and Robert de Abney. Also to a grant from Hugh, son of William de Offerton, to William, son of Phillipi de Thornhyl, of all his land in Kenteney. Witnesses: Peter de Hayrsle, Nicholas de Paddelay, and Robert de Abeney. Both grants in late Henry III (1244-1272).2

Robert D'Abbeney, son of Robert D'Abbeneye and Eustacia De Fancourt, was born circa 1245.

Robert was a witness to a grant in Offerton from Robert le Raggede fil. Richard le Raggade to William Fox of Offerton, of all the lands which he holds in the name of Matilda, his wife, in the fee and territory of Over Offerton, Nether Offerton, "vel Kauershegge." Witnesses: William Hally, William Foliambe, Thomas his brother, Thomas de Langedon, Robert de Abbeney, parson of Bampford, Peter le Hore, etc. Reign of Edward I (1272-1307).3

Robert D'Abbeney was included on a tax list between 1307 and 1327 in Hocklow, Derbyshire, England. From a Tithe Roll found in Lichfield records believed to date during the reign of Edward II 1307-1327 are the following in Hocklow: John Larcher, Wm. Rankelli, Alan Archer, Wm. Bate, Robt. Abbeney, Rich. and Jo. Archer. In Barthw. were: Rich. Foljambe, Adam Forester, Adam de Aula and Alan del Hill.

Robert D'Abbeney was a witness to a grant 8 September 1317 in Offerton, Derbyshire, England, from Robert, son of Eustachil de Offerton, to William, son of John Fox, of those two acres of land which he had by grant of his father in Offerton. Witnesses: William Hally, William de Abbeney, and Robert de Edinsour.4

Witnesses were: Oliver de Langeford, Simon de Gonsyl, John de Bamford, William Hally, Nicholas de Paddeleye, Roger le Archer, Peter de Bamford, Robert de Hope, clerk, and others not named. William De ABNEY, Robert D'ABNEY, John D'ABNEY and Arabella D'ABNEY were included on a tax list in 1380 in the Peak District, Derbyshire, England. The Poll Tax of 1379-80 (which caused the Peasants Revolt of 1381) included William Abney and his grandsons Robert and John. Arabella was probably also a granddaughter.      Jordan Mallory STONE, son of Jordan STONE and Martha Dandridge WELCH, was born on 24 October 1883 in Ashville, Buncombe County, North Carolina.

Jordan Mallory STONE appeared on a census, enumerated 5 June 1900, in the household of his mother Martha Dandridge WELCH in Ward 2, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California. He was recorded as a 16-year-old salesman.

In the 1901 Los Angeles City Directory Jordan Mallory STONE and Frances Jordon STONE lived at 213 North Grand Avenue with Frances Anne GIBSON and Martha Dandridge WELCH. They were recorded as Miss Fannie J. Stone stenographer with the Southern California Railroad and Jordan Stone a clerk at Coulter Dry Goods.1,2

In April 1917 Jordan Mallory STONE moved to Pasadena, California, to take the position of assistant cashier of the Security National Bank.3

Jordan married Jessie Evelyn Hall on 11 July 1918 in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana. She was the daugther of Herbert S. Hall and Mary Elizabeth Peter. She was widow of Mr. Williams.3,4,5

With no end in sight for World War I, the United States instituted it's third and final registration. It included all men who were between the ages of 18 and 21, and 31 to 45 years of age. This added younger men than the previous registrations, those who were born between September 12, 1897 and September 12, 1900; and added an older group of men, born between September 12, 1873 and September 12, 1888. Jordan filled out a draft card on 6 September 1918 in Pasadena, California. Jordan Mallory Stone was 34 years old, born 24 Oct 1883. He lived at 701 Santa Barbara Street in Pasadena. His nearest relative was his wife, Evelyn H. Stone, same address. He was employed as assistant cashier at Security National Bank, Chamber of Commerce Bldg, in Pasadena. He was described as a white male of medium height and build, with hazel eyes and auburn hair.

Jordan Mallory STONE died on 16 March 1919 in Pasadena, California, at age 35. He was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Los Angeles, California.

His obituary appeared 18 March 1919 in the The Los Angeles Times, published in Los Angeles, California. BANK CASHIER DIES -- J. M. Stone, assistant cashier at Security National Bank in Pasadena, but for many years connected with the National Bank of California in Los Angeles, died yesterday in his home in Pasadena, 701 Santa Barbara street. Death was caused by pneumonia after a few days illness.

Mr. Stone was 35 years old. He was married last summer. He leaves a widow, a mother, sister and brother, William M. Stone of the First National Bank, Los Angeles.

The funeral will be held this afternoon at Bressee Bros. chapel, 855 South Figueroa street, by Dr. Davidson, rector of St. John's Episcopal Church. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

She was listed in the 1894 city directory for Los Angeles, California. The listings included Martha D. Stone, widow, residence 123 S. Workman. Also at that address were her children: Miss Fannie J. Stone, stenographer at Carran & Pillsbury; Miss Mattie Stone, student; and Miss Maggie[sic] Stone, retoucher at B. W. Lawson. Benjamin W. Lawson was a portrait photographer with a studio at 147 South Main.

She was listed in the 1896 city directory for Los Angeles, California. The listings included Martha D. Stone, widow of J., residence 123 S. Workman. At that same address was Miss Fannie J. Stone, stenographer at W. Bordwell and Miss Mattie J. Stone, retoucher at G. Steckel. The identical listings appeared in the 1897 directory. George Steckel was a highly regarded portrait photographer. (see footnote.)1

Mattie married Henry Atkinson Barraclough Jr. on 8 June 1899 in Los Angeles, California. The ceremony was held at the home of the bride's mother, 213 North Grand Avenue. Rev. E. H. Brooks officiated. The bride's sister, Fannie Stone, was her only attendant. The groom was the head bookkeeper for H. Jevne, a position he had held for several years.

Mattie J. STONE died on 2 January 1907 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California.2 She was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Los Angeles, California.
