     Harmon ABNEY, son of Nathaniel ABNEY Jr. and Sarah Canada, was born on 12 February 1821 in Montgomery County, Tennessee.¹

Harmon ABNEY died on 5 February 1867 in Johnson County, Illinois, at age 45.¹

     Hester Lafayette ABNEY, daughter of Nathaniel ABNEY Jr. and Sarah Canada, was born on 3 February 1821 in Montgomery County, Tennessee.¹

Hester married Fleming Moseley Winfree in 1844.

Hester Lafayette ABNEY died on 14 May 1868 in Illinois at age 47.¹ She was buried in Mount Olive Cemetery, Roland, White County, Illinois.

     Nathaniel ABNEY III, son of Nathaniel ABNEY Jr. and Sarah Canada, was born in 1828 in Stewart County, Tennessee.¹

     Emma E. Crawford was born on 29 September 1869 in Edgefield County, South Carolina.¹

Emma married Dr. George Warren ABNEY, son of James Madison ABNEY and Martha Livingston, in 1885 in Abbeville County, South Carolina. Through about 1883 George had been practicing law, but from that point he resumed the practice of medicine.

Emma E. Crawford and Dr. George Warren ABNEY moved from Abbeville, South Carolina to Offerman, Pierce County, Georgia, circa 1890 Their second dauther, Mattie, was born there. They were only there a year or two before moving on to Florida by 1894 when their third daughter was born.

Abney, a 43 year old physician, born Aug 1856 in South Carolina and his wife Emma E. Abney, age 31, born Sep 1868 in South Carolina. They had been married for 15 years and she was the mother of three. Also in the household were their three daughters, Hellen H. Abney, age 12, born Sep 1887 in South Carolina; Mattie U. Abney, age 9, born Dec 1890 in Georgia and Bernice Abney, age 5, born Sep 1894 in Florida. They were all attending school. The family lived at 102 Cook Street.²

She was the mother of three, all living. Living with them were their daughters, Helene, age 17, born in South Carolina; Mathew(sp), age 16, born in Georgia and Bernice, age 15, born in Florida. Bernice was attending school.³

Emma E. Crawford, Helen H. ABNEY, Mattie U. ABNEY and Bernice L. ABNEY were listed in the 1915 city directory for Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida. The household was recorded as Emma E. Abney (widow of George W.), home 1609 Main Street. Listed as boarders at that address were Helen X. Abney; Mattie U. Abney, a stenographer at Drew's and Bernice L. Abney, a stenographer at Charles Neville & Co.⁴

Emma E. Crawford and Helen H. ABNEY were listed in the 1920 city directory for Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida. Emma E. Abney (widow of George W.), home at 1609 Main Street. Her daughter, Helen, was living with her.⁵

She appeared on a census, enumerated 11 April 1930, in the household of her daughter Helen H. ABNEY and son in law Frank M. Stuart in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida. She was recorded as mother, Emma Abney, age 58, born in South Carolina.⁶

She appeared on a census, enumerated 22 April 1940, in the household of her daughter Helen H. ABNEY in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida. She was listed as her mother, Emma E. Abney, a 69 year old widow, born in South Carolina.⁷
