     Mildred Owen BURT, daughter of Joel Hurt BURT and Mildred Ann OWEN, was born on 5 November 1845 in Talbot County, Georgia.¹

Her father died on 8 June 1847 in Pleasant Hill, Talbot County, Georgia, when Mildred was 1.^2,3

Mildred Owen BURT appeared on a census, enumerated 5 August 1860, in the household of her mother Mildred Ann OWEN in Pleasant Hill, Talbot County, Georgia. She was 14 years old.⁴

Mildred married Jesse Belton BUTTS on 26 November 1868 in Georgia.⁴

Mildred Owen BURT appeared on a census, enumerated 29 April 1910, in the household of her daughter Jessie in Marietta, Cobb County, Georgia. The household was listed as William L. Benson, 33, general merchant, and his wife, Jessie E. Benson, 34, both born in Georgia. They had a two year old daughter, Emily F. Benson. They had been married three years and lived at 110 Waddell Street. Also in the household was mother-in-law Mildred Butts, a 63 year old widow and aunt Emily I. Burt, 68 and single. Mildred and Emily were sisters.⁵

     Amanda Maria KIMBROUGH was born on 26 November 1839 in Harris County, Georgia.¹

Amanda married Alpheus Joel BURT, son of Joel Hurt BURT and Mildred Ann OWEN, on 5 October 1858 in Harris County, Georgia. She was the daughter of Henry and Mary (Rosser) Kimbrough. They had four children.^1,2,3

Amanda Maria KIMBROUGH died on 23 February 1917 in Harris County, Georgia, at age 77.⁴ She was buried in Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Rebecca married Rev. Elbert Moore WHITING in 1880 in Georgia.

Rebecca Eulalia BURT died on 15 April 1912 in Harris County, Georgia, at age 48. She was buried in Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

William married Sarah Ann Elizabeth BURT, daughter of Joel Hurt BURT and Mildred Ann OWEN, on 3 January 1856 in Talbot County, Georgia.²

In the Talbot County, Georgia 1860 Census William was 33 years of age, a planter owning $6,000 of real estate and $15,313 of personal estate. His wife, Sarah A. S. Burt Gorman, was 23. They were born in Georgia, as was their child, Mary M. Gorman, two years of age. Gorman employed two overseers, Henry Snelling, 19, and Edward Williams, 21, both born in Georgia. Neighbors of the Gormans were Hope H. and Martha A. Hammack and their family, and others.

He owned a mill for grinding wheat and corn. and possibly a sawmill facility, located on Black Creek. The mill was located on his plantation of about 1,800 acres. The mill pond was a favorite site in the community for picknicking and camping. The "Talbotten Standard", for Tuesday, May 18, 1880 reported that "The picnic given at Gorman's Mill on Friday last was a perfect success. It was largely attended, and all enjoyed themselves hugely. The amusements were varied and refreshments bountiful."³

William Roscoe GORMAN died on 5 January 1910 in Talbot County, Georgia, at age 75.¹
