Mary's obituary was printed on 23 March 1827 in the Alabama Journal newspaper, published in Montgomery, Alabama. It read: "Died on Saturday, the 10th instant, in Autauga County, Mrs. Mary Graves, consort of Mr. Charles Graves, in the 35th year of her age, of the prevailing epidemic. She left behind her husband and three children."⁴
