She was active in the Speech Chorus, French Club, International Relations Club, and May Day committee. She started as a freshman in 1937.. After college she taught high school before her children were born and later in Ankara, Turkey and in Dallas, Texas. While in Dallas she earned a masters degree from Southern Methodiist University.3,4

George William Hintgen

George William Hintgen was born on 24 September 1915.1 He graduated from both Texas A & I and the University of Texas with civil engineering degrees. After graduate work in Michigan, he entered the U. S. Public Health Service, serving during WWII in Alabama. Later, on leave to the State Department for the Marshall Plan, he served in Turkey from 1950 to 1953 on a special maleria control project, then in Baghdad, Iraq from 1954 to 1958 as consultant to the Ministry of Health. He retired from the City of Dallas Health Department in 1983 after serving as head of their environmental sanitation department for 25 years. In 1985 he and his wife moved to Georgetown, Texas to be nearer to some of their daughters.1
