John married Mary Magdelene Mercer in 1901. She was the daughter of John and Susanna Lockhart Mercer.

Alvin Spencer HUNT appeared on a census, enumerated 1 June 1880, in the household of his parents George Washington HUNT and Cynthia B. SPENCER in Pine Flat, Autauga County, Alabama. He was listed as Infant Hunt, son, age 3 months.2

Spencer married first Redamie Ann Garner on 27 March 1897 in Wetumpka, Elmore County, Alabama. The marriage apparently ended in divorce or annulment as Damie appeared in the 1900 census with her parents. She was shown as single and both she and daughter Charlsie were listed as Garner rather than Hunt.3

Alvin Spencer HUNT lived with his father, George Washington HUNT, in 1902 in Montgomery, Alabama. He was employed as an automobile repairman, and his father was a watchman. They lived at 321 Herron Street.

A few friends were present and after the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Hunt left for their home at Osceola Station. Mr. Hunt is connected with the Warror Iron Works and his bride formerly lived in Montgomery.

Alvin Spencer HUNT appeared on a census, enumerated 18 April 1910, in the household of his parents George Washington HUNT and Cynthia B. SPENCER in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama. He was listed as S. L. Hunt, a 29 year old, single and a cabinet make.5

This added younger men than the previous registrations, those who were born between September 12, 1897 and September 12, 1900; and added an older group of men, born between September 12, 1873 and September 12, 1888. Alvin filled out a draft card on 12 September 1918 in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama. Alvin Spencer Hunt was 38 years old and born 26 May 1880. He was living at 701 South 66th Street. His occupation was carpenter foreman with A. H. Moore on First Avenue. His nearest relative was his wife, Jettie Hunt. He was discribed as medium height and build, with blue eyes and dark brown hair.1

Alvin Spencer HUNT died on 25 October 1949 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, at age 69.7 He was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Tuscaloosa, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.8

  5. [S697] Ancestry.com transcribed the son as I. L. Hunt so I orgiinally thought this was Iaaac. However on closer inspection the first letter matches exactly the S in Son and Sally. The second letter does appear to be an L but rather hard to read. So I now conclude that this is Spencer rather than Isaac. Further evidence is tha age 29 which would be correct for Spencer, but Isaac would have been 40. Also Spencer was a cabinet maker.

     Redamie Ann Garner was born on 4 July 1880 in Deatsville, Elmore County, Alabama. She was the daughter of George Vernon Garner (1848-1921) and Lavinia Caroline "Love" Brown (1843-1924).1 She was also known as Damie.

Damie married second George Clanton Norris on 12 November 1903 in Elmore County, Alabama.3
