Elijah POPE, son of Jacob Thomas POPE and Elizabeth Dawkins, was born in 1772 in Northampton County, North Carolina.
During War of 1812, Sampson POPE, George Washington POPE and Elijah POPE enlisted in the South Carolina Militia in Edgefield County, South Carolina. The History of Edgefield by John Abney Chapman tells a story of ''brothers" George and Sampson Pope. They are listed in Capt. Zachary Brooks' Company, along with their brother Elijah Pope and with Joel Abney, husband of sister Elizabeth Pope, and Azariah Abney, husband of sister Mary Pope.
