Carroll BROWN, son of Asa Robertson BROWN and Mary Sophia Kirkpatrick, was born on 26 September 1880 in San Saba, San Saba County, Texas.
With no end in sight for World War I, the United States instituted it's third and final registration. It included all men who were between the ages of 18 and 21, and 31 to 45 years of age. This added younger men than the previous registrations, those who were born between September 12, 1897 and September 12, 1900; and added an older group of men, born between September 12, 1873 and September 12, 1888. Carroll filled out a draft card on 12 September 1918 in Richmond, Contra Costa County, California. He was 37 years old and a pipe fitter with Standard Olil Company. He lived at 1923 Nevin Avenue in Richmond. His nearest relative was his mother, Mrs. Mary S. Monk of 632 3rd Street in Richmond. His description was medium height, slender build, gray eyes and dark hair.1

John Wesley ABNEY, son of McDaniel ABNEY and Sylvia Ann Baker, was born on 13 October 1869 in Saline County, Illinois.
He was known by most as "J.W." but his wife called him "Wes". He was an ordained Missionary Baptist preacher. He held three degrees in the Masons at the Stratford, Oklahoma lodge. He worked as a farmer to support the family and handled revival services and pastored several churches in Oklahoma throughout his life. He also traded properties and did various types of labor after he quit farming. He owned and operated a grocery store in the Prairie Grove Community, west of Stratford, Oklahoma. After the death of their youngest son, Clarence, in WW II, he renamed the church Clarence Chapel. He was active up to a short time before his death. According to Ruth Abney-Spurlock, J.W. had almost no formal education. His wife taught him to read and write. When he was saved, J.W. joined the Missionary Baptist, although his mother was a Primitive Baptist.1

Thomas Isaac ABNEY, son of John Wesley ABNEY and Maud May Maxwell, was born on 27 July 1905 in Franklin County, Arkansas.
Tom finished the 8th grade in school, which was typical for young people of his era. He was an amateur wrestler in his younger days. He loved to play checkers and could best almost anyone at the game. As an adult, he was a cattle trader and a butcher. He became Deputy Sheriff under Garvin County Sheriff, Claud Sweeney. He served five years as a deputy and then ran for sheriff and was elected. He served as Garvin County Sheriff for 18 years. During his tenure as sheriff, he received the True Detective Service Award in November 1963, for apprehending an armed fugitive, without injury to anyone. After leaving the Sheriff's Office, he ran for Garvin County Commissioner and was elected. He served in that capacity for two terms. During his time in office, he worked to build a bridge across the Washita River to provide easier access to Pauls Valley to a number of citizens. He never saw it completed, but after his death, the bridge was completed. In recognition of his service to Garvin County, the bridge was named the "Tom Abney Bridge". It is located southeast of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. After leaving the Commissioner's office, he worked as a tree surgeon and was very active in that occupation until he suffered a heart attack. He was recovering from that when he suffered a stroke that took his life. His services were held in the Stufflebean Funeral Home Chapel of Pauls Valley, with his old friend and his pastor, Earl Storie, officiating. Tom was a faithful member of the Pauls Valley Missionary Baptist Church in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. He is buried in the Abney Cemetery.1

Abney MAYS Jr., son of Abney MAYS, was born in 1792 in Edgefield County, South Carolina.1
During the War of 1812 Abney MAYS Jr. along with Absalom Troup ABNEY, William ABNEY and Charles ABNEY and Thomas Hamilton ABNEY enlisted in Capt. John Coleman's company in Col. William Youngblood's 1st Regiment of South Carollina Militia.
He was a private in Captain Pearson Holloway's Company of State troops of South Carolina Militia. His military records record that he Began his service on December 10, 1813. His rate of pay was 8.00 dollars per month. On March 15, 1814 he was paid Nineteen dollars and ninety-nine cents for two months and five days of service. He also received 2.66 for distance from place of discharge to place of company rendezvous, 150 miles. He was apparently discharged at this time.2

His father was probably the Tyler L. Mathews isted in the 1878 Mobile City Directory who was a clerk on the steamboat "Lotus No. 2." His residence was Springhill Avenue 4 miles. Timothy W. Mathews, Jr. was recorded at the same address as a delivery clerk on the Mobile and Montgomery Railroad.

In 1884 Timothy was employed as assistant bookkeeper by Cavanaugh, Barney & Brown according to the City Directory. He lived on the northside of St. Anthony and West Hamilton with his grandmother. By 1885 he had advanced to bookkeeper.
