Her obituary appeared 24 November 1915 in the Union Springs Herald, published in Union Springs, Alabama. Mrs. Fannie Burt Dead -- Mrs. Fannie Hoskins Burt died at the home of her son, Mr. J. W. Burt, of this city Monday afternoon about 1 o'clock. She was in her 83rd year and would have been 83 in January next. She was the widow of the late E. R. Burt, who died about nineteen years ago.

Mrs. Burt was reared in Russell and Macon counties, but for many years has resided in Bullock. She is survived by five children, who are as follows: J. R. Burt, of Indian Territory, B. W. and J. W. Burt of this city, Mrs. M. M. Biggers and Mrs. Edd Jenkins, of Montgomery.

Mrs. Burt was a member of the Methodist Church and had been connected with that denomination from early youth. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the residence and were conducted by Rev. H. W. Rice. Internment was made in Oak Hill Cemetery.

He apparently died in service. His record shows discharged 31 May 1862 which would have been soon after an engagement at Winchester, Virginia. His widow Sarah Burt filed a claim for his pay on 16 Mar 1863.²

Sarah Rebecca Watts died on 25 November 1905 in Alabama at age 60.¹ She was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama.¹

     Joseph GRIFFITH, son of David G. GRIFFITH and Hannah Middleton, was born on 8 March 1757 at Welch Tract in Marlboro County, South Carolina Colony, British Colonial America.¹

Joseph saw military service in 1782 in Cheraw District, South Carolina, Joseph served in the Revolutionary War and is documented with the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. He was a captain in the militia.

Joseph married Mary Ann Boulware circa 1785 in Edgefield County, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Capt. James and Agatha Boulware.^2,3,4
