Mary Ella Mallory

Mary Ella Mallory, daughter of James Mallory and Anna Maria Darby, was born in June 1839 in Alpine, Talladega County, Alabama.1 She was generally known as Ella.
Mary Ella Mallory was enrolled on 3 October 1852 at Masonic Institute in Talladega, Alabama. Her father mentioned taking her there in his diary that day. On 1 Oct 1855 he wrote that he placed Ella in the Presbyterian School in Talladega. He said that there were two other good female schools in town.2
Ella married Oscar M Watkins on 18 February 1858 in Alpine, Talladega County, Alabama. Her father recorded it this way: "Our third daughter Ella and Oscar Watkins were married today. He is a lawyer by profession. He is 23 years of age, Ella is 19. The company was large and agreeable."3,4
Mary Ella Mallory and Oscar M Watkins appeared as head of household on a census enumerated 9 June 1860 in Talladega, Talladega County, Alabama. The household was listed as O. M. Francis Shepherd Mallory, son of James Mallory and Anna Maria Darby, was born on 16 September 1843 in Alpine, Talladega County, Alabama.1
Francis began military service at age 17 on 4 June 1861 in Talladega County, Alabama, when he enlisted as a corporal in Company 10th Alabama Infantry Regiment, CSA. They were assigned to the Army of Northern Virginia. He was wounded at Gettysburg.
Francis married first Elizabeth Henderson on 10 July 1873 in Shelby County, Alabama. She was the mother of his four children: Samuel Henderson. Virginia M., Alva Hardie, and Eula Mallory.

Lizzy Mallory was enrolled at age 16 on 6 October 1861 at Judson Female Institute in Marion, Perry County, Alabama. She was mentioned leaving for there again 2 Jan 1864. Her father mentioned sending her in his diary. He was a big believer in education fo his daughters.2
Elizabeth married Alva Finley Hardie on 27 May 1866 in Talladega County, Alabama.3

David Peebles Jr. was born on 10 November 1807 in South Carolina.1 He was a Baptist minister.
David married Mary Gibson Mallory, daughter of Uriel Mallory Jr. and Malinda Welch, circa 1838 in Alpine, Talladega County, Alabama. David was a Baptist minister who lived in Lowndes county, but served a circuit throughout the black belt, especially Dallas county. He also served a church in Talladega county.1
David Peebles Jr. died on 20 January 1888 in Texas at age 80.1 He was buried in Cedars Memorial Gardens, Mineola, Wood County, Texas.1
