     Albert S. J. BURT, son of John Joseph BURT and Laura NORRIS, was born circa 1862 in Alabama.¹ He was also known as John A.

Albert S. J. BURT appeared on a census, enumerated 12 July 1870, in the household of his grandfather Nelson Booker NORRIS in Calhoun Beat 8, Fort Deposit, Lowndes County, Alabama. He was recorded as John A. Burt, age 8, at home. His mother was also in the household.²

Albert S. J. BURT was listed as one of the heirs to the estate of Martin Ross BURT 18 July 1870 in Prattville, Alabama. The heirs included Martin's children and the grandchildren of three of his deceased children. It was amended in December to include the names and ages. The children of Joseph J. Burt were Martha E., 16; Mary S., 12; and Albert S. J., age 8; all living in Lowndes county with their mother.³

     Charlie NORRIS, son of Nelson Booker NORRIS and Sarah Jane BURT, was born circa 1862 in Lowndes County, Alabama.

Charlie NORRIS appeared on a census, enumerated 12 July 1870, in the household of his father Nelson Booker NORRIS in Calhoun Beat 8, Fort Deposit, Lowndes County, Alabama. He was recorded as Charlie Norris, age 6, born in Alabama.¹

Charlie NORRIS was listed as one of the heirs to the estate of Martin Ross BURT 18 July 1870 in Prattville, Alabama. The heirs included his living children and the childen of his three deceased children. Charlie Norris, age 8, was the only child of Nelson Norris and Sarah J. Burt and was living in Lowndes county.²

Charlie NORRIS died in March 1880 in Fort Deposit, Lowndes County, Alabama.

His obituary appeared 22 March 1880 in the The Weekly Advertiser, published in Montgomery, Alabama. "Mrs. A. B. Middlebrooks and Mr. Charles Norris of Fort Deposit died at the Fort last week. The later was the son of Mr. N. B. Norris, and was about 19 years old."

     George W. BURT Jr., son of George W. BURT and May Barnes, was born on 12 November 1895 in Orrville, Dallas County, Alabama.

George saw military service circa 1917 as corporal in machine gun company 164th Infantry during World War I.¹

Mary Frances Wilson died on 2 October 1995 at age 94.¹ She was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama.¹

     Bailey A. Abney was born in 1822 in South Carolina. He was also known as Bailey Frederick, however all records during his lifetime listed him as Bailey A. Abney. This author believes the Frederick is a modern error based on that name being given as the father on a death certificate for his son Robert David Abney. The person providing the information was not a close relative so may not be reliable.

Bailey married Caroline Smiley Bollinger on 28 August 1845 in Pulaski County, Georgia. She was the daughter of John and Ashsa Perkins Bollinger.

Bailey saw military service circa 1862 in Pulaski County, Georgia, enlisting as a private in Company D, 10th Confederate Cavalry Regiment, CSA. He was captured at Big Hill, Kentucky.He was held as a POW at Camp Chase, Ohio and Louisville, Kentucky before being released and transferred to a Richmond Hospital. Some family indicate his body was sent to Savannah's Laurel Grove Cemetery-Confederate Field where many Georgia CSA burials were made.

In the Confederate Pension Applications, Caroline Abney, living in Polk County, Georgia, made application in 1906 for a widows pension. So both her husband and son, Bailey, must have died in the Civil War.¹

Bailey A. Abney died on 23 November 1865 in Richmond, Virginia.¹ He was buried in Laurel Grove Cemetery North, Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia.

     Caroline Smiley Bollinger was born in 1829 in South Carolina.

Bailey began military service on 5 January 1863 in Camp Gregg, Guinea Station, Virginia, as a private in Company H "Cold Steel Guards" of Washington County, 49th Georgia Infantry, Thomas' Brigade, Wilcox's Division, 3rd Corps, Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A. He was admitted 7/10/1863 into Chimborazo Hospital #2, Richmond, VA. for debility. He was again hospitalized 7/12-22/1863 in Chimborazo Hospital #4 with typhoid fever. On Receipt Roll 10/26/1863 at General Hospital #3, Lynchburg, VA. Admitted 5/31/1864 General Hospital #9, Richmond; transferred 6/3/1864 into Jackson Hospital, Richmond with chronic dysentery; died there.¹

Bailey A. Abney Jr. died on 5 June 1864 in Richmond, Virginia.¹ He was buried in Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, Virginia.¹

     Martha J. Abney, daughter of Bailey A. Abney and Caroline Smiley Bollinger, was born in 1850.

William married Hezikiah "Kizzie" Bollinger on 11 October 1864 in Pulaski County, Georgia.

Walker, the bride's father, in Chilton county, on Thursday the 8th inst., by Rev. Dr. Somers, of Nashville, Mr. Walter Oliver, of Calera, and Miss Mollie Walker, of Chilton.

Walter R. Oliver died on 29 April 1914 in Calera, Shelby County, Alabama, at age 60.¹ He was buried in Salem Cemetery, Calera, Shelby County, Alabama.¹

     Wilda C. McGhee was born on 28 February 1859 in Alabama.¹

Wilda married Robert J. WALKER, son of William WALKER and Sarah Virginia SHELTON, on 14 February 1878 in Chilton County, Alabama. She was the daughter of Perry McGhee and Nannie Dungan.²

Walker, a 62-year-old farmer, born February 1848 in Alabama; his 41-year-old wife, Hilda Walker, born February 1859 in Alabama; and their son, Robert S. Walker, farm laborer, age 19, born December 1880 in Alabama. Robert and Hillda had been married 22 years. Hllda was the mother of three children, only one still living.

Wilda C. McGhee died on 19 November 1919 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, at age 60.¹ She was buried in Fairview Cemetery, Shawnee, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma.³

     Ella Belle Mallory, daughter of James Oliver Mallory and Nancy Welch Riser, was born on 17 February 1869 in Talladega County, Alabama.¹

Ella Belle Mallory and Samuel WALKER appeared as head of household on a census enumerated 1 May 1910 in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama. The household was listed as Samuel Walker, a 51-year-old railroad conductor and his wife, Ella B. Walker, age 40, a boarding house operator. They had been married once, for 12 years. Ella was the mother of one child, who was still living. Living with them was their son, Oliver Walker, age 11, Also in the household were nine male boarders, all working on the railroad.

In the 1915 Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama, City Directory Ella Belle Mallory appeared with niece Estelle ABNEY as her boarder. Ella Walker, widow of Sam Walker, had a home at 133 N. 60th in Woodlawn. Sam's niece, Estelle, was listed as a boarder at that same address. Estelle was listed a a fitter at Caheen Brothers, a dress shop and dry goods store on 2nd Avenue North, betwwen 18th and 20th streets.⁴

Ella Belle Mallory died on 20 March 1955 in Washington, D. C., at age 86.¹ She was buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Washington, District of Columbia.¹

Her obituary appeared 22 March 1955 in the Selma Times-Journal, published in Selma, Alabama. Mrs. Ella Belle Mallory Walker, Washington, D. C., and former resident of Selma and Birmingham, died in Washington on March 20 after a short illness.
     Funeral services were held from the residence there today at 2 p.m. Burial was in Parklawn cemetery in Washington.
     A native of Talladega county, Mrs. Walker spent a part of each year in Selma with a sister, Mrs. O. L. Barnes. She lived in Birmingham for a number of years during her earlier life and during recent years had made her home in Washington with a son, Oliver Mallory Walker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Selma.
     Survivors include, in addition to her sister in Selma, and son, three grandchildren, all of Washington; a second sister, Mrs. C. A. Fuller, Landrum, S.C., and a number of nieces and nephews.

     John Calhoun LANGSTON, son of Newton Patton LANGSTON and Mary Caroline CHISM, was born on 13 January 1877 in Bibb County, Alabama.¹

John Calhoun LANGSTON appeared on a census, enumerated 18 June 1880, in the household of his parents Newton Patton LANGSTON and Mary Caroline CHISM in Centreville, Bibb County, Alabama. He was recorded as son John C. Langston, age 2, at home.

John married Nancy Louise Scott on 28 November 1905 in Autauga County, Alabama.

With no end in sight for World War I, the United States instituted it's third and final registration. It included all men who were between the ages of 18 and 21, and 31 to 45 years of age. This added younger men than the previous registrations, those who were born between September 12, 1897 and September 12, 1900; and added an older group of men, born between September 12, 1873 and September 12, 1888. John filled out a draft card on 12 September 1918 in Clanton, Chilton County, Alabama. He registered as John Calhoun Langston, a farmer, living near Pletcher, Alabama. He was born 13 Jan 1877. His nearest relative was Mrs. Lou Langston of Pletcher. He was discribed as tall, with a medium build, blue eyes and dark brown hair.^1,2

John Calhoun LANGSTON died on 16 March 1929 in Clanton, Chilton County, Alabama, at age 52.³ He was buried in Mars Hill Baptist Cemetery, Chilton County, Alabama.³

     Nancy Louise Scott was born on 23 June 1878 in Alabama.

Nancy married John Calhoun LANGSTON, son of Newton Patton LANGSTON and Mary Caroline CHISM, on 28 November 1905 in Autauga County, Alabama.

Nancy Louise Scott died on 29 November 1958 in Clanton, Chilton County, Alabama, at age 80.

     LeRennie Edwin Anderson was born on 3 January 1904 in Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa.¹

LeRennie married Geraldine May ABNEY, daughter of Ernest Azariah ABNEY and Katherine McNeil, on 28 August 1928 in Florida.¹

LeRennie Edwin Anderson and Geraldine May ABNEY appeared as head of household on a census enumerated 10 April 1930 in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida. The household was listed as LeRennie E. Anderson, a 26-year-old salesman for a packing house, born in Iowa; his 24-year-old wife, Geraldine, born Florida; and son LeRennie E. [Jr.], age 4/12. They lived at 373 East Sixteenth Street.

On 29 March 1935 LeRennie Edwin died in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida, at age 31 leaving Geraldine May a widow.¹ He was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida.¹

     Ellen M. ABNEY, daughter of William Azariah ABNEY and Mary Ann Stone, was born in 1866 in Alabama. She was also known as Ella.
