The text was: "William 'Bill' Blair Lowry passed from this life on November 6, 2006, ending his courageous fight with acute myelogenous leukemia. Bill was born in Kittaning, Pennsylvania on January12, 1945, the son of Edgar Blair Lowry and the late Martha Edna Robinson. Bill grew up in Templeton, Pennsylvania with his younger brother, Eric Scott Lowry. Bill served honorably in the United States Army, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. He retired in January 2006 from his job with Siemens Industrial Services. Bill was a committed Christian and was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia. He enjoyed the fellowship of family and friends and dedicated himself to helping others by volunteering and by participating in foriegn and community missions. Those who knew Bill also recognized his skills in various activities including painting, writing, singing, golfing, hunting and fishing. Bill is survived by his wife of 38 years, Betty Kay Kilby Lowry; and his daughter, Kathryn Blair Lowry King. He also leaves his father and brother, as well as several other family members and countless friends. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at Woody Funeral Home at 9271 Shady Grove Road in Mechanicsville, Virginia, from 5 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church at 2709 Monument Avenue on November 9, 2006 at 11 a.m., with interment at Signal Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church to support its international mission or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society."2
