David Halliburton Jr.
M, b. 11 October 1753, d. 13 January 1843
David Halliburton Jr., son of David Halliburton Sr. and Amey Humphreys, was born on 11 October 1753 in Little Stone Creek, Mecklenburg County, Virginia. He was the son of David Halliburton, Sr. (c1727-1767) and Amy Humphreys (1735-1790). David Jr. was also known as "David the Hunter". He was said to have a deep Scottish brogue, and a very kind man. During the Revolutionary War, He served under General Greene in South Carolina, and was at the Battle of Yorktown. He moved to Wake county, North Caronina in 1808 and then to Humphreys county, Tennessee.
David married Lucy Reynolds, daughter of Joseph Sherwood Reynolds and Ann Bledsoe, in 1773 in Halifax County, Virginia.1
David Halliburton Jr. was included on a tax list in 1812 in Capt. Simpson's District, Humphreys County, Tennessee. It iincluded Joshua Parker, Asa Brown, John H. Burton, Samuel H. Burton and David H. Burton [Halliburton]. John and Samuel were sons of David Halliburton.
David Halliburton Jr. appeared on the 1820 Federal Census of Humphreys County, Tennessee, where he was listed as David H. Burton. One male 45 and over, 1 female 45 and overl 4 slaves, and five "all other persons except Indians not taxed."
David Halliburton Jr. died on 13 January 1843 in Desoto County, Mississippi, at age 89.
