Sarah married Phillip Morgan WATTS, son of Abraham WATTS Jr. and Lucelia HERRIN, on 7 September 1871 in Tuscaloosa County. They applied for the license 7 Sep 1871, with the bond paid by P. M. Watts (his mark) and William Moses. The ceremony was performed by Stephen Bowen, justice of peace, at the home of Malinda Moses (Sarah's mother.)4

Phillip said that he and his mother were born in Alabama, while his father was born in Germany. Phillip and Sarah had been married 27 years. She was the mother of seven children, five of them were still living in 1900. George W. Watts, believed to be his nephew, was living six houses away.6

Sarah Elizabeth MOSES and Rev. Henry Edgar WATTS appeared as head of household on a census enumerated 21 April 1910 in Vance, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. The household was listed as Henry Watts, a 19-year-old sawmill laborer, and his 57-year-old widowed mother, Sarah E. Watts. Sarah was the mother of four children with three of them living. They could both read and write, and they rented their home on the Centreville and Tuscaloosa Road.7

John William WEAVER

     John William WEAVER, son of Jesse WEAVER and Rebecca SANFORD, was born on 2 February 1832 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.1 He was a farmer.

John William WEAVER appeared on a census, enumerated 1 June 1850, in the household of Jesse WEAVER and Rebecca SANFORD in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. He was enumerated as John W. Weaver, age 18.2

John William WEAVER purchased a government land patent 1 June 1858 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. From the Tuscaloosa Land Office he purchased 321.33 acres in three lots. The first was the north half of the northeast quarter of section 26, township 21, range 9 west. The other two sections were the east half of the southwest quarter and the entire southeast quarter of section 23, township 19, range 9 west.3

John William WEAVER appeared as head of household on a census enumerated 1 June 1860 in Collins Beat, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. The household was listed as John Weaver, age 28, farmer, born Alabama. His real estate was valued at $360 and his personal property was valued at $300. There was no one else listed in his household.4

John married Susannah Elizabeth KYZER, daughter of Emanuel Kyzer and Mary Oswalt, on 5 June 1864 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. She was the daughter of Emanuel and Mary "Polly" (Oswalt) Kyzer.5,6

John William WEAVER died after August 1867.

Simon B. WEAVER

     Simon B. WEAVER, son of Jesse WEAVER and Rebecca SANFORD, was born in 1834 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.1 He was also known as Simeon.

Simon B. WEAVER appeared on a census, enumerated 1 June 1850, in the household of Jesse WEAVER and Rebecca SANFORD in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.2

Simon married Sophia Margaret Phipps, daughter of William W. Phipps and Sophia Abigail WEAVER, on 11 May 1858 in Copiah County, Mississippi. She was Simon's first cousin. She was the widow of Dempsey Gaddy who she had married 27 Apr 1840 in Tuscaloosa county.3

Simon began military service on 24 April 1861 in Granada, Copiah County, Mississippi, when he enlisted as Simeon B. Weaver in the Crystal Springs Guards, which later became Co. F, 6th Mississippi Intantry. They fought at Shiloh. He died of pneumonia in Nashville, Tennessee.3

Simon B. WEAVER died on 4 November 1861 in Nashville, Tennessee.4,5,6 He was buried in Old City Cemetery, Nashville, Tennessee. The Confederate soldiers were later moved from the Old City Cemetery to Mount Olivet Cemetery. He was buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee.

     George J. H. T. WEAVER, son of Jesse WEAVER and Rebecca SANFORD, was born on 27 April 1841 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.1 His full name was George James Hendon Thomason Weaver.

He appeared on a census, enumerated 1 June 1850, in the household of his parents Jesse WEAVER and Rebecca SANFORD in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. He was recorded as George J. H. T Weaver., age 8.2

He appeared on a census, enumerated 1 June 1860, in the household of his parents Jesse WEAVER and Rebecca SANFORD in Collins Beat, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. He appeared as Geo. J. H. T. Weaver, age 19.3

George began military service at age 20 on 11 June 1861 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, when he enlisted as a private in company G, 11th Alabama Infantry, CSA. He was discharged 12 Aug 1862 due to disability from wounds suffered at Fisher's Farm in Virginia 30 Jun 1862.1

George married first Katherine Skinner circa 1862 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.4

George J. H. T. WEAVER appeared on a state census, enumerated 1866, in the household of Jesse WEAVER in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. He was probably the one male age 20-30.5

George J. H. T. WEAVER witnessed the marriage of Dempsey J. G. WEAVER and Letisia Hudson on 21 March 1869 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. He signed the marriage license.6,7

George married second Mary Catherine SANFORD on 27 March 1871 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. She was the half-Indian adopted daughter of George's sister Mary. After the death of her husband, Greenberry Sanford, Mealey brought her adopted daughter back from Texas to Tuscaloosa county to live. George a young widower and veteran met and fell in love with her.9

Weaver, a 40 year old farmer, born in Texas and his wife Mary Weaver, age 30, born Texas. Living with them were daughter Elector Weaver, age 8, born Texas; son Rufus H. Weaver, age 5, born Texas; son John D. Weaver, age 4, born Texas and son Henry M. Weaver, age 1, born Alabama.10

Ester married Henry John MARCHANT on 23 December 1870 at Andrews Chapel in Cottondale, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. Henry was working for the railroad and became ill. Jesse and Rebecca Weaver cared for him in their home and that is how he met and fell in love with Esther.7,8

Ester Lavinia WEAVER and Henry John MARCHANT appeared as head of household on a census enumerated 1 June 1900 in Beat 28, Vance, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. The household was listed as Henry J. Marchant, age 56, and born September 1843 in England which was also the birthplace of his parents. His occupation was farming. Esther L. Marchant, his wife, was 54 years old, and was born February 1846 in Alabama, while her parents were born in South Carolina. The couple had been married 30 years and Esther was the mother of nine children, all still living. With them were their sons, Edward, age 22; Daniel M., age 20; Oscar, age 17; Frank, age 15 and Bascom W., age 5. Edward and Daniel were both coal miners, while Oscar and Frank were listed as farm labor. Also in the household was Nancy J. Hodges, Esther's sister. Nancy was 47 years old, having been born in February 1853, and she was a widow. She was the mother of two children, both still living.9

Ester Lavinia WEAVER and Henry John MARCHANT appeared as head of household on a census enumerated 22 April 1910 in Vance, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. The household was listed as Henry J. Marchant, a 66-year-old farmer, and his 64-year-old wife, Esther Lavenia. Henry was born in England and had come to America in 1868. He was a naturalized citizen. He was renting his farm on Brookwood Road. Living with them was their 7-year-old adopted daughter, Lillie.10

Ester and Harry appeared as head of household on a census enumerated 12 January 1920 in Jones, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. The household was listed as Harry J. Marchant, 75, born England and his wife, Ester L. Marchant, 73. Her parents were from North Carolina. Harry had immigrated to America in 1869. Hey was apparently retired because no occupation was given. Also in the household was their 18-year-old daughter, Lillie, a student. They lived at 136 Clements Station Road.11

Ester Lavinia WEAVER and Henry John MARCHANT appeared as head of household on a census enumerated 8 April 1930 in Smiths, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. The household was listed as Henry Marchant, 86, and his wife, Lavina W. Marchant, age 84. Henry had married at age 20 and had immigrated to America in 1869. He was a naturalized citizen. Lavina had married at age 22. Living next door was there son Edwin.12

Mary married George J. H. T. WEAVER, son of Jesse WEAVER and Rebecca SANFORD, on 27 March 1871 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. She was the half-Indian adopted daughter of George's sister Mary. After the death of her husband, Greenberry Sanford, Mealey brought her adopted daughter back from Texas to Tuscaloosa county to live. George a young widower and veteran met and fell in love with her.2

Weaver, age 5, born Texas; son John D. Weaver, age 4, born Texas and son Henry M. Weaver, age 1, born Alabama.3
