Louis D'Aubigne ABNEY, son of William Wiley ABNEY and Sallie A. Laird, was born on 19 February 1893 in Union County, Mississippi.
During World War I, Louis D'Aubigne ABNEY enlisted in the Army Air Corps between 1914 and 1917. He served as a flight instructor.
Louis D'Aubigne ABNEY died on 14 October 1963 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at age 70.

Abney, born in Union, Miss., came to Oklahoma to attend the University of Oklahoma in about 1914. He was later graduated from the OU law school. Abney was a veteran of World War I, serving as a flight instructor.
Abney ran the Oklahoma Equipment Co. after the war and later was assistant secretary of state in 1941 and assistant state auditor in 1952. He joined the corporation commission in 1954 as interstate rate counsel. In 1961 he was named referree for that commission and held that post until he retired in 1962.
Survivors include his wife Mildred of the home; two sons, William C. 2800 NW 34, and Louis D., Jr., Toledo, Ohio; two brothers, E. M., 2856 NW 21, and J. b., Austin, Texas, and a sister, Mrs. Lorene Martin, 508 NW 20. The family request that any memorial contributions be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. He was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Rev. John ABNEY, son of James D. ABNEY and Tabitha Towles, was born in 1824 in Edgefield County, South Carolina.1 He was a Methodist Episcopal minister between 1850 and 1860 in Rusk and Bosque counties, Texas.
John saw military service between 1861 and 1865 in Texas as captain and later assistant quartermaster of 30th Texas Cavalry and Company F (Gurley's) 1st Texas Partisan Rangers.1

John Pope ABNEY, son of Joel Richard ABNEY and Nannie M. Clark, was born on 5 August 1885 in Edgefield (now Saluda) County, South Carolina.1 John graduated in 1900 at the public high school in Greenwood, South Carolina. He then went on to attend Wofford College in Spartenburg where he played football and baseball.1
John Pope ABNEY was a banker and textile mill owner in Greenwood, South Carolina. On 27 November 1918 he purchased Grendel Mills, a textile plant, and renamed it Abney Mills. It grew to become one of the largest in the state. He had started out working as a mesenger boy in the Bank of Greenwood. In 1905, he went to work for Farmer's and Merchants Bank where he moved steadily up the ranks to eventually become president.1
