Jane KENNEDY, daughter of Alexander KENNEDY and Jane (?), was born on 15 June 1778 in South Carolina.1
Jane married Thomas Isadore Anderson on 28 September 1801 in South Carolina. They had 12 children: Susan(died in infancy), William, Elizabeth, Ellen, Frances, Sophronia, Thomas, Sarah, Harriet, Mary Ann, James, and Martha. The Anderson plantation in Greene (now Hale) county, Alabama, called Anderson Hill or Rosamond, covered 2160 acres.
Hale county was created 30 Jan 1867 largely from Greene county and included the areas where the Anderson, Kennedy and Brown families lived.2
Jane KENNEDY was named an heir in the will of Jane KENNEDY dated 16 October 1823 in Jasper County, Georgia. She was recorded as Jane Anderson and left one dollar, the same amount she left each of her heirs.3
According to a brief biography on Find A Grave she was a charter member of the Concord Church, later Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church. It said that her obit said she was a native of the Waxhaw District (sic) of South Carolina. She was of Scotch-Irish descent and that her parents immigrated from Northern Ireland prior to the American Revolution.
Jane KENNEDY died on 22 April 1859 in Akron, Greene (now Hale) County, Alabama, at age 80.1 She was buried in Mount Zion Cemetery, Akron, Hale County, Alabama.
Her obituary appeared 8 May 1859 in the Alabama Beacon, published in Greensboro, Alabama. Died -- At her residence in this county, on the 22nd inst., of paralysis, Mrs. Jane Anderson, widsw of the late Thos. I. Anderson, aged about 85 years. --- Eutaw Whig, April 28th.
