Elizabeth ABNEY

     Elizabeth ABNEY, daughter of Sir Thomas ABNEY and Mary Gunston, was born in 1704. She never married.

Following the death of her mother, Mary ABNEY, on 12 January 1750 Elizabeth ABNEY inherited the manor of Stoke Newington, together with Abney House and Abney Park. She managed the estate, along with another at Tilford in the parish of Farnham, Surrey.

She purchased Tilford House of Surry in 1760 and at her death bequeathed it to her chaplain, Rev. Thomas Tayler.1

Elizabeth ABNEY died in August 1782 in County Surrey, England.1

The household was listed as James Kennedy, a 47 year old farmer born in South Carolina. He had real estate valued at $18,000. His wife Elizabeth was 41 and also born in South Carolina. Their children were all born in Alabama: William L., 25; Susan, 17; Zachariah A., 15; Frances T., 12; Robert M., 9; and Ella A., 5. Living next door was James' mother, Martha.

Brown and wife are rejoicing over the arrival at their house recently of an appreciated new addition to the family. This we are informed is Mr, Brown's 18th child which has been born under the roof where he now lives. Congratulations are yet n order.

Nancy married Thomas Jefferson Moore in 1906 in San Saba County, Texas.
