Peyton Talley GRAVES died on 2 March 1886 in Manack Station, Lowndes County, Alabama. He was buried in Graves Burying Ground, Lowndes County, Alabama. No tombstone was found for him when the cemetery was surveyed in 2009, however there was one for Melora.
His obituary appeared 8 March 1886 in the Montgomery Daily Advertiser, published in Montgomery, Alabama. "Mr. P. T. Graves died at his residence at Manack yesterday about noon. He will be buried today at 2 o'clock at Manack. He has a number of relatives and friends in this city who will regret to hear of his death."
