The bride was reared in this community and has many friends who extend congratulations and best wishes.

Burt testified in his support.

James Henry BURT died on 2 February 1900 in Dallas, Carroll County, Texas, at age 69.4 He was buried in Oak Cliff Cemetery, Dallas, Dallas County, Texas.4

Robert began military service on 6 November 1861 in Granada, Choctaw County, Mississippi, He enlisted in Capt. Stanford's Battery of Mississippi Light Artillery. He and Fletcher B. Burt, son of William C. Burt of Carroll county, enlisted the same day. Robert was listed as a 23 year old farmer. He was wounded at the Battle of Chickamauga in Georgia on 19 Sep 1863. As a result of a gunshot wound his left arm was amputated near the shoulder. He was discharged by disability on 31 Mar 1864.

Robert F. BURT was included on a tax list in October 1866 in Duckhill, Carroll County, Mississippi. He was taxed $123.09 for 58 bales of cotton.Also listee in Duck Hill was A. R. Burt who was taxed $2.00 for 156 swine.This could be his sister Ann's husband, Alexander H. Burt.1

     Willliam Henry HURT, son of Elisha Fletcher HURT and Amanda Arnold MARSHALL, was born on 19 January 1846 in Creek Stand, Macon County, Alabama.1 He was also known as William H. BURT.

William Henry was the only son of Elisha Fletcher Hurt and Amanda Arnold Marshall. His father died when he was still a baby. After his father's death, he and his mother returned to Talbot County, Georgia where they lived with her parents until her marriage to Joseph Tarpley Burt in 1851. Shortly after the marriage the Burts moved back to the Warrior Stand area of Macon County, Alabama where William Henry was raised on their farm.

In 1861, at the age of fifteen, he joined the Confederate forces with Company C, 15th Alabama Infantry. His Company fought in the seven day seize around Richmond, Virginia. Among the battles in Virginia in which his Company fought were the second battle at Manassas, Harper's Ferry, Sharpsburg, Fredericksburg, and Gettysburg. William Henry was captured at Battle of Gettysburg in July, 1863 and held prisoner at Fort Delaware until June, 1865.

Upon his return to Macon County he became a farmer and married Theresa E. Moore December 10, 1867 in Macon County.

1865-1880 he was the tax collector for Macon County and was elected probate judge in 1886 and re-elected in 1892.1

Willliam Henry HURT appeared on a census, enumerated 1 June 1860, in the household of his parents Joseph Tarpley BURT and Amanda Arnold MARSHALL in Southern Division, Macon County, Alabama. He was enumerated as Wm H. Burt, age 14, born Alabama.

Willliam married first Theresa E. Moore on 10 December 1867 in Macon County, Alabama. The service was performed by Rev. John C. Carter. Of this union was born five children.2

Willliam Henry HURT was named an heir in the will of Amanda Arnold MARSHALL dated 20 September 1880 in Lee County, Alabama. ...my dear children: William H. Hurt, Joseph S. Burt, James M. Burt, Sallie D. Burt, remainder of real estate in Butler county, any property coming to her from the estate of my dear father deceased William B. Marshall of Talbot County, GA ...my dear son William H. Hurt, $30.3

Theresa died on 13 August 1884 in Tuskegee, Macon County, Alabama, at age 37 leaving Willliam Henry HURT as a widow.

Willliam married second Mary Jesse Granberry on 5 November 1888 in Henry County, Alabama. The wedding service took place home of her uncle, Robert C. Granberry.

Willliam Henry HURT died on 17 August 1906 in Griffen, Spading County, Georgia, at age 60.1 He was buried in Tuskegee City Cemetery, Macon County, Alabama.1

Pink rosebuds in slender vases centered the tables when a delicious two course luncheon in which the colors of pink and green were carried out, was served. Tallies, score pads and other bridge accessories were in pink and green and the favors presented the honor guests were tied in pink and green. Miss Richey and Miss Kinnebrew left for their homes Sunday afternoon after a short visit with Miss Abney.
