- [S1232] This date is an estimate based upon the context. It is NOT proven by any documentation., Most researchers show her born in 1775, but with no source. The 1790 census shows 2 females, which implies he was likely married with one daughter. If she were born in 1775 Nancy would have been 15. Based on the 1800 and 1810 census she was born 1766-1774. I believe she was likely born in 1772 or 1773. 1772 would have made her 18 in 1790. It also fits the other two census age ranges.

Martha ABNEY, daughter of William ABNEY, was born circa 1853 in South Carolina.

She was listed as Martha Abney, age 7, born South Carolina. Her relationship is unproven, but she is thought to be the daughter of William, Jr. She was not listed as an heir of William Abney, dec'd so not his daughter, and with the Abney surname, not a daughter of Nancy or Elizabeth who were married. Michael had no wife or heir, so William is the most likely candidate. Perhaps his wife was deceased. Her name is unknown.1
